Bio

Over the years I have worked with individuals and families in crisis or who are struggling with the pressures of what life can throw at you. We all have lessons in life and if we don’t attend to the patterns and cycles that repeatedly show up in our lives, we will be limited in reaching our potential and personal goals. I believe that we all have within us our own answers and truth. As a therapist, I have the privilege to assist individuals to explore their inner wisdom and discover their unique voice and path of healing. Healing to me, is more than therapy by itself, and encompasses living a mindful and present life and embracing those “life lessons”.

My experience as a mental health counselor includes extensive work with individuals and families throughout the lifespan, providing individual and group parenting instruction, working with victims of abuse and neglect, treatment for substance abuse and adolescents. At New Leaf Counseling, I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and recognize that each individual is unique. I have extensive experience in creative and expressive therapeutic approaches such as art, psychodrama, writing, etc. I am a certified provider of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

Bio

More than half of people will struggle with a mental health issue at some point in their lifetime. It’s common to struggle with depression, anxiety, self doubt, and grief. Even with a support system, we can feel overwhelmed, alone, and stuck. I love this quote: “Everyone goes off the rails a little or a lot sometimes. That’s the nature of life. One of the bravest things to say is ‘I need help.’” It can get better. Your state can improve. There is hope. There is light. After all, mountains do not rise without earthquakes. I can help guide you to it and through it. My therapeutic strengths of non-judgment, compassionate listening, and insight can help you get from surviving to thriving. It’s all about you when you’re here.

I am a Clinical Mental Health Therapist and mental health counselor at New Leaf Counseling and have over a dozen years of experience. My areas of specialization include counseling with women and adolescent girls on a variety of issues. I am also experienced with family issues and mens issues. My passion is to help others be resilient through their problems and live more fulfilling, happy lives. The main theoretical frameworks from which I draw are cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential theory, and specific skills-building approaches. I also believe in the mind-body connection and understand how nutrition and movement is foundational for mental health. Contact us today to schedule your appointment.
